The latest news from SGVCC Earthworks Farm & Community Garden is the CSA program. Earthworks Farm is a true community farm dedicated to serving the community, teaching organic farming and healthy eating through providing access to affordable, fresh produce direct from the Farm.

Our CSA program is launched! We are welcoming new members to join our CSA, and if you are interested in receiving a weekly CSA box, please contact us at info@earthworksfarmgarden.org. We offer the choice of a small and large CSA boxes, pickup is scheduled for every Saturday from 10am-12noon on the Farm.

Last Week Small CSA Box:

  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Nopales/cactus
  • Thai chili
  • Carrots
  • Bananas
  • Papalo – similar to cilantro
  • Eggplant – Black beauty and Rosa Bianca
  • Bell peppers
  • Spicy peppers – mix
  • Chard
  • Chinese long beans
  • Watermelon
  • Summer squash – cocozelle and yellow crookneck
  • Purple basil

Last Week Large CSA Box:

  • Quelite/amaranth leaf
  • Squash blossoms
  • Cucumbers
  • Cherry tomatoes

The Recipe Corner — Our Farm-To-Table

Broiled eggplant:

Recipe provided by Darah Gillum

1 eggplant
Light miso paste
Ginger
Sesame seeds

Our eggplant has been a huge hit this summer, and healthy as can be!

Method:

Slice eggplant
Drizzle both sides of each slice with olive oil
Broil for 15-20 min, flipping slices half way through
Mix in a bowl:
2 tbsp light miso paste with 2 tbsp grated ginger
Spread paste on slices
Sprinkle with sesame seeds

Put slices back into the broiler for 5-10 min.
Enjoy over rice or anyway you like!
